How to Go to Jail: Do What Brian Feener did - Broadcast a Hoax Mayday Call on Channel 16

How to go to jail: Broadcast a hoax mayday call on channel 16. Have it recorded and traced by the Coast Guard. Get arrested, go to trial, get convicted and go to jail.

Brian Feener made the call from his house.

Here's the audio recording and a live transcript of Feener's call:

Feener, a Fairhaven, Massachusetts commercial fisherman, sure knew what he was doing, even if he initially got the location of Great Round Shoals off Nantucket wrong, sounds drunker as the call eveolves, and finally asks Coast Guard to send its training tall ship Eagle his way. Feener's call was picked up on channel 21 and controlled by the VHF radio watchstander at station Woods Hole overlooking Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Sound. Feener's father Gary Feener was killed in 1998 during an altercation with a fellow crewman on a US commercial swordfishing boat docked in Newfoundland. Below: Gary Feener (New Bedford Standard-Times photo): If you need a vhf, here's a good deal from Amazon.   The radio (from Uniden) is waterproof, has a large easy-to-read LCD screen, and only costs $80, (buy one!). It's less expensive by roughly $30 than most vhfs on sale these days: Feener photo copyright New Bedford Standard-Times
